In diesem ersten 'Mystery-Movie' von ProSieben überspringt der Gonger zwei Generationen und plant seine Rache an den Enkeln derjenigen, die seinen Tod zu verantworten haben. Das alles weiß natürlich der junge Phillip Hansen (Sebastian Ströbel) nicht, als er nach 15 Jahren wieder in das Dorf seiner Kindheit kommt, wo seine Eltern starben und sein Großvater ihm ein prächtiges Herrenhaus hinterließ. Doch durch seine Rückkehr löst er den Gonger-Fluch erst aus, denn zusammen mit vier alten Freunden ist das Quintett der Täter-Enkel nun komplett, und der Untote beginnt seine Jagd.

Im Wesentlichen geht es in dem Film darum, dass der untote Eric wieder zurückkehrt und Philipps Freundin Helma grausam ermordet. 　　Somit wird ihm klar, dass Eric kein Gonger ist. Als Philipp, von diesem Vorfall schwer getroffen, in sein Heimatdorf zurückkehrt, trifft er auf den blanken Hass der Dorfbewohner. Zusammen mit einigen anderen, die durch Eric geliebte Personen in ihrem Leben verloren haben, zieht er in die Villa Hansen und entwickelt mit Hilfe seiner Erfahrungen und Felix’ Kameras und Geräten einen Plan, um den Geist zu vernichten. 　　Durch Philipps Träume von den bevorstehenden Morden können lange Zeit alle überleben, doch kommt es in der Schlussphase des Films zu einem Final-Destination-ähnlichen Verkettungs-Massaker. Schließlich beschließen die vom Pfarrer aufgehetzten Dorfbewohner, die Villa zu stürmen, als Eric wieder einmal zuschlägt. Nach einigen weiteren Morden sowie dem Tod Pias und ihres Freundes während eines Kusses kommt es zum Showdown: Philipp stellt sich Eric in den Katakomben des Hauses und erfährt, dass der nicht durch ihn getötet werden kann, da er nicht der letzte lebende Hansen ist. 　　Als ihm klar wird, dass seine gemeinsame Tochter mit Helma der letzte Hansen ist, nimmt er sie mit und gibt sie an einen fernen Schamanenstamm ab, um sie zu schützen. Die letzte Einstellung des Films zeigt den sich mit starren Augen umdrehenden Philipp Hansen.

With this film, Eisenberg continues the work he started with his previous one, The Unstable Object (FID 2011), in which he also used a triangular structure to compare the work in a high-tech car factory in Dresden, then in an antiquated clock repair shop in Chicago, and finally in a cymbal factory in Istanbul. From one production site to the next, the film focuses on hands, bodies, images: reconstructed bodies, modelled bodies, dressed bodies. And on the social body as well – either collective bodies at work, or their images, shaped by the very objects which are being produced. The patience of an attentive camera and the fascinating rhythm of this choreography let the gestures fully unfold. The geography of production modes also shapes the story it underlies, like the globalisation of exchanges. And what is also paramount here is that the time it takes to make the objects seems to mirror the experience of the viewer watching the film, like an echo between absorbed gazes, theirs like ours.
